I AM A MUSICIAN AND TEACHER
I CALL AND FIDDLE FOR COMMUNITY SQUARE DANCES
I LOVE TO TEACH, AND BE AN ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE AT SCHOOLS
I RENT OUT TWO HOUSES FOR SUMMER VACATIONS
LET’S GET STARTED!
I am going to begin by describing my work as a fiddler, dance caller and community event organizer. I think communities can draw closer together around traditional dance events: parties, celebrations, weddings, birthdays. I like to use “old-fashioned,” time-tested, human-scale methods: Live music always. I am part of a long line of itinerant dance masters who have been guiding people through simple social dances for enjoyment and socializing.
I also teach music, both to private students and at school. In my studio, on New York City's Morningside Heights, I have private students in guitar, piano and mountain dulcimer. I am the music teacher at Bronx Community Charter School, a progressive charter school in the Bronx.
I offer two houses for weekly summer vacation rental. Windows House on Long Pond, in Plymouth, Massachusetts, is a classic New England shingled family summer house, and is a 4-hour drive from New York City, and an hour south of Boston, almost on Cape Cod.
Basinhead Overlook is on the eastern tip of Prince Edward Island, in the Canadian Maritimes, overlooking a nature preserve with perhaps the finest beach on the island.
